Blasting activities will occur at Haines Hwy Mile 15 in 2025.
When are blasts scheduled to occur?
Trim blasts may occur any time during the day and there may be several blasts per week, typically Monday through Saturday. Public notices will be sent out prior to blasting closures.
How will this affect traffic?
Trim blasts are expected to occur in 2025 at MP 15. Prior to blasting, flaggers will hold traffic a safe distance from the blasting area. Small scale blasting will only require 10 minute road closures. There will be signs within the project area that provide info on upcoming road closures.
Prior to a blast, the following will occur:
- Flaggers will begin to hold traffic at the scheduled road closure time.
- The area will be cleared by our Blaster in Charge prior to beginning the blast procedures.
- There will be a series of long signals from an airhorn five minutes prior to blast
- There will be a series of short signals one minute prior to blast
- After the blast, one long signal will be sound once the Blaster in Charge has determined the site is all-clear.
- The crew will begin clearing the road of debris. Flaggers will release traffic once the roadway is safe.
